Roadmap
A straightforward look at what's already built, what's planned for the first packaged release, and what's explicitly out of scope for now — drawn from the same commitments made on Features, Why, and the FAQ.
Built
macOS and Windows desktop packaging
Native Apple Silicon DMG and Windows x64 NSIS packaging paths with versioned release metadata.
Frame-accurate timeline
Place, move, split, trim, and remove clips — time is kept to microsecond precision and snaps to the frame rate.
Media import
Video, audio, images, and subtitles, scoped to approved project and media roots only.
One render plan for preview and export
Preview and export share the same composition plan and the same mixed audio tracks.
Transcription to subtitles
Transcribe a selected clip and turn the result directly into editable subtitles.
Versioned, autosaved project state
Schema-versioned, atomically written projects that recover safely after a crash.
Local MCP server for the AI agent
A bearer-token-protected Streamable HTTP MCP server that lets an external agent edit through the same command gate as the desktop UI.
Auditable command history
Human and agent edits pass through the same command gate; agent batch operations are recorded as reversible checkpoints.
Scene Browser and semantic media search
Analyze footage into scene ranges, inspect visual signals, and optionally search locally indexed media by meaning.
Role mixer, track EQ, and live meters
Mix editorial roles and individual tracks with gain, mute, solo, RMS/peak metering, EQ, monitor, and master stages.
Effects, color, transitions, and motion
Build layer effect chains, LUT looks, transition treatments, keyframe curves, reusable motion, and parameterized Motifs.
Optional local AI workspace
Generate speech and music or run local frame interpolation and upscaling, with visible model and cache controls.
Persistent render queue
Queue, pause, reorder, cancel, retry, and inspect multiple exports while preserving one preview/export render plan.
Planned
Signed, notarized macOS build
A Developer ID signed, notarized .dmg for Apple Silicon — the first packaged release.
Automatic updates
Packaged builds update themselves once signed releases exist.
Priority support channel
A dedicated support channel for packaged-build customers.
Published pricing
Exact pricing for the packaged build will be announced before release.
Not currently planned
Linux preview distribution
Not part of the current macOS and Windows desktop preview channel.
Cloud sync or hosted processing
Out of scope by design — Timeline X Studio is local-first, and your projects stay on your device.
Verified in the desktop editor
19 real panels. One project state. Try the workflows.
This is a guided, interactive map of the editor that exists in the repository today — not a speculative product mockup. Choose a workflow, then step through what changes in the shared timeline.
Generate and enhance without sending the project away
Optional local tools create speech, music, interpolated frames, or upscaled video and return the result to the Library or directly to the timeline.
Generate a Kokoro voiceover
Create an 8-second music bed
Interpolate footage at 2×
